The Stanley Cup Finals!

Hello all! I hope you are all having a great week. This week the Stanley Cup finals started! It is unfortunate that our very own Ottawa Senators aren’t there, but when our star players are healthier next year we will have a much better shot. On that note, we still had a fantastic season and two of the Sen’s won awards this week. Our coach Paul MacLean won the Jack Adams Award for coach of the year, and our Captain Daniel Alfredsson won the Mark Messier Leadership Award. Congrats to the both of them!

Despite the Sen’s not being there, this year’s cup final is going to be great. For the first time since 1979, two original six franchises will be going head to head. Not only are they two of the original NHL teams, but they were both winners in 2010 (Chicago) and 2011 (Boston) and have a lot of play-off experience. If Wednesday’s game is any indication of what this final is going to be like, we are in for a good one!

Wednesday’s game went to triple OT before there was a game decider. Andrew Shaw from Chicago finally managed to get one by Tuuka Rask in the third OT period. It was unexpected, considering going into the third period Boston was up at one point 3 -1. The second game was last night and it was another tight one.

Boston managed to win the second game in OT and tie up the series. Chicago completely dominated Boston in the first and was up by the end of the first. Boston switched up their third line and was able to battle back and win it. With the first two games going to OT, it seems like this is going to be an amazing series. No matter who wins, this will definitely be one for the history books.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and thanks for reading!
