Ottawa – We Believe!

Ottawa Senators Proud

Hello all! What an exciting time it is in Ottawa! The Senators have made second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2007, knocking out the Montreal Canadiens in 5 games to get here. The series was a tough one, with Montreal all over us during the series, and the games coming down to goaltending. Craig Anderson played fantastically after returning from his injuries this season.

At the point in the series when we looked like we were being dominated, Anderson really stepped up and is a major reason that the Sens have moved on to the second round. We have also seen some fantastic performances from our rookies. Game 3 is the perfect example of that. Watching rookie Jean-Gabriel Pageau scoring a hat-trick, along with Turris and Silfverberg getting goals, it was definitely an amazing game to watch.

Now we are on to our toughest challenge yet, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The strongest offensive team in the league, stacked with offensive stars such as Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang to name just a few (there are certainly lots more!). We have been a team that has relied heavily on defense to make it where we are now, but this is going to be a tough series.

Game 1 was certainly proof of that, with the Sens falling 4-1 to the Pens. We outshot them by 13 when players on the ice were at even strength, but all it took was giving them little breaks when special teams were playing and we gave up 4 goals. Tonight is game 2 of the series, and in my opinion a make or break for the rest of the series. It will certainly be an exciting game, and I hope you all get a chance to support the team tonight!

No matter what happens though, I know our city will be proud of the team. Have a great long weekend everyone!
