Stroke Survivors Association of Ottawa Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction

Conrad Switzer, Assistant Manager at Dymon’s South Keys location wrote today’s blog post.

Hello everyone! This past month, Dymon Self Storage  had the privilege of helping out a local not-for-profit organization. The Stroke Survivors Association of Ottawa held their 3rd Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction at the St. Elias Church and Community Center on Wednesday November 14th. It was a fun night, and they raised money for a great cause! The organization’s focus is on creating support networks and advocating for services for those who have had stroke affect their lives, whether it is you or a loved one.  Dymon is honored to be involved in this dinner and auction every year since it has started! Our involvement this year started two months ago when the organization was beginning to collect auction items and they needed storage space. For the past two months, Dymon has been providing the organization with free space at our South Keyes location to store all of their auction items. We also were able to provide them with 200 Dymon pens, a $500 gift certificate as an auction item, and free transportation of the items!

The night itself was a great success! We had a full house and a lot of items to auction off! The night started with the silent bidding auction. There were items arranged around the whole outside of the room. I personally bid on the rock climbing package from Vertical Reality, it was a great deal! Once the silent auction closed, it was time for dinner! We started with a cream of broccoli soup and a vegetable salad and for the main course we had the St. Elias Chicken, which was delicious! Then it was time for the live auction, which our $500 gift certificate was a part of! Luckily all the items raised good chunks of money. The Dymon gift certificate raised another $200 for the organization! Overall, the dinner and auction raised $6,000 more than the previous year, bringing in over $20,000 for the organization! With that said, the dinner and auction was a great success, a lot of fun, and was for a great cause.
