Back to School Time

The 3 dreaded words for children at this time of year is “Back to School”. Parents are celebrating, but children are already missing their summer freedoms. The summer months have flown by and now it’s time to get back to the school year routines and schedules. The children in the Ottawa-Carleton school district  have one more week to enjoy summer before classes begin on September 4th. The area universities such as University of Ottawa , Carleton University, Saint Paul University and Algonquin College  all return to classes on September 4th as well. In fact, most of the colleges are starting their new student and returning student programs next week.  Everyone from college students to children starting school for the first time are gathering school supplies and getting organized for the new school year.

If you are a college student, the beginning of the school year is always a time of transition. New students moving into the dormitories for the first time have had lots of organizing and downsizing of their “stuff” to do.  Most dorm rooms are usually half the size of a normal bedroom and you are also sharing space with a roommate. There really isn’t much storage in a dorm room, so college students have to really decide what items to bring with them from home.  During the summer before college, most students start packing up their rooms with all of the collections, awards, posters and childhood memories. If the student doesn’t do it, then the parent’s might end up “invading” the room once the student has left for school. Parents might turn that bedroom into an office, home gym or guest room. If you want to keep all of the memories and collectible items from childhood, but don’t have the room to store it in your home, think about renting a self storage unit. Dymon offers short-term and longer term rentals for their storage units. Self storage is also a great option for college students to store their belongings in between school years or semesters. If they place their items in storage, then they don’t need to move their belongings back and forth to their homes. This helps reduce the clutter in their homes!

For families with elementary and secondary school children, self storage is also a great place to store past projects, sporting equipment and even musical instruments! Children begin to accumulate a lot of “stuff” during the school year that parent can’t throw away. Place these projects, documents and pictures in your storage unit to keep them for the future. Hockey sticks, uniforms and other sports equipment can take up a lot of space in the home. Store these items in your storage unit especially during the off-season. Dymon’s climate controlled storage units  will help protect the instruments and equipment for future use.

Dymon has a variety of storage unit sizes  to help you keep your home clutter free and organized during back to school time. Dymon wishes everyone a happy, enlightening and enjoyable new school year!

This is a great idea, it’s good to have an alternative to throwing out everything that doesn’t fit in a dorm room.
