Dymon Night at Capital City Speedway

Conrad Switzer, Assistant Manager at our Prince of Wales facility is back with this week’s blog post!

Hello all! It has been a while! Last Wednesday, August 1st, Dymon  was involved in another great charity fundraising event! The company sponsored a race night at the Capital City Speedway in Stittsville. This was Dymon’s second year sponsoring a race at the Speedway. I missed last year’s event, but now I know why everyone at the company was telling me I missed such a great time! Not only did the company sponsor the event, they paid for tickets, food, and drinks for all Dymon employees and our guests! It is certainly a testament to how important it is to the owners that the employees at the company are happy! The night was definitely fun. The races were really exciting and the crowd was pumped! This excitement transferred to the racers!  The racers were driving so hard that a car had to be towed off the track in the first race! The environment was just great.

The other great thing about the night was that it was all for a good cause. Through the night, race attendees were donating funds for CHEO,  and by the end of the night over $1,700 had been raised! That doesn’t even include the $200 Dymon Self Storage gift certificate we donated for the golf ball throw game! Speaking of that game, it was also a lot of fun! People bought golf balls and half way through the races everyone went on the track to try to throw the ball into a hole by a flag in the middle of field (trust me it’s harder than it sounds!). No one got a golf ball in the hole, but the people close enough got prizes (I swear I came really close to hitting it)!

Matt Emonts got to drive the Dymon Tesla as the pace car, and people were even bidding to get rides!  Our regional manager, Jonathon Dicker, also got to be involved by handing out all the awards to racers at the end of the night! The entire night was a lot of fun and it was felt great to help raise money for CHEO! I know I’ve said it before, but it definitely feels great to be working for a company so dedicated to giving back to the Ottawa community. Enjoy the photos that I took at the event!  Nothing is set in stone, but I am really hoping with the success of Capital City Speedway event we can do it again next year!  Until next time!
