Dymon & Electric Powered Cars

Have you seen Dymon’s Tesla around town or at local community events? Dymon has been a proud owner of a beautiful Dymon logoed Tesla Roadster since September 2010. Matt Emonts, Business Development & Special Projects Coordinator, has the fun task of driving the Tesla!  According to Matt, “This car is unlike anything else! People think electric cars are slow and unpractical, the Tesla is anything but. Not only is this car ludicrously fast, it has a range of almost 400km and charges over night. The car is fairly easy to drive, but at the end of the day, it is a high-powered sports car, so you do have to drive safely.”

Dymon uses the Tesla as a promotional tool at trade shows, charitable events and anything else that gets it noticed. It is not only eye-catching, but it is the epitome of eco-friendly. It syncs perfectly with Dymon’s “green” philosophy. Dymon is proving that with our large solar power installations under construction and its Tesla, it is possible to have a company that is completely eco-friendly!

With the earth’s natural oil resources diminishing, it has been more and more important to find energy-efficient sources to fuel our vehicles. Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 for just that purpose. The owners of Tesla are a group of Silicon Valley engineers. Their mission is to accelerate the world’s transportation to electric mobility with a full range of increasingly affordable electric cars. The first Tesla model, the Roadster, hit the streets in 2008. Today, there are over 2,100 Teslas on the road in over 32 countries. Tesla’s cars have become so popular that certain models are sold out in the United States. The all-electric car will go about 390 kilometers per charge with zero tail pipe emissions. The car can accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds! The care is fun to drive, like any sports car, but it is environmentally responsible as well. As more alternative sources for electricity are created, the Tesla actually becomes more energy-efficient!

This Saturday, Dymon will be participating in the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa (EVCO) Electric Vehicle Expo from 10am to 4pm at the Canada Science and Technology Museum. The event is free and open to the public with free parking. The exhibitors include Electric Mobility Canada, EnviroCentre, Ecology Ottawa, Hydro Ottawa Limited and EVCO . Many different hybrid and electric vehicles will also be on display including the Nissan Leaf and Chevy VOLT. This is a great opportunity to ask the owners of the hybrid and electric cars questions about the cars. Dymon is very excited to be a part of this event and to be able to help spread the word about electric powered vehicles.
