The Soles4Souls Ottawa campaign  was kicked off on April 2, 2012 with Don Robichaud,  Director of Soles4Soles Canada Eastern Region, Jim Watson, Mayor of Ottawa, Stephen Creighton, Senior Vice President of Dymon Self Storage and Mike Kosmos of Local Heroes. Since the kick-off, over 20,000 pairs of shoes have been collected at various drop-off locations in Ottawa!  Dymon Self Storage has drop off boxes at all of their Ottawa area locations.  Donations have included new or gently worn runners, boots, dress shoes, sandals, baby shoes, snow boots and even some construction boots! Many people are even donating multiple pairs of shoes! Mrs. Harper has shown her support Soles4Souls Canada  by making a donation in Ottawa last week!

This Saturday, April 28, 2012 will be the first major sort of the collected shoes at the Dymon Self Storage Walkley Road location.  After sorting, the donated shoes will be first offered to local Ottawa service organizations. The leftover shoes will be sent to a Soles4Souls America sorting facility in Nevada to be sent across the world. There is a variety of Ottawa service organizations that will be offered the donated shoes.  The organizations include: West Community Health Centre, Ottawa Carleton Immigration Services, Ottawa Mission, Harvest House Organization, Overbrook-Forbes Community Resource Centre, Saint Mary’s Home, Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa and many others.

Soles4Souls  is an American charity created after the tsunami that ravaged the South Pacific in 2004. Soles4Souls has partnered with shoe manufactures to community groups to collect gently worn or new shoes. Since 2004, Soles4Souls has distributed over 17 million pairs of shoes to individuals across the world that cannot afford shoes or have been affected by natural disasters or other tragedies.

Donations will continue into May at the Dymon Self Storage locations! Keep cleaning out those closets, basements and storage units and donate today!
